Frequently asked questions
Is there an age restriction or content filter?
The tone of a story follows the age-restriction setting of the connected AI. With a restricted model the narration stays safe for general audiences; if you connect a model without age limits, the story can follow it into darker or more mature themes — so the service is intended for adult users in that case. The setting can be changed at any time in your AI source settings.
Is it free?
Yes. You can play free via the AI Horde community inference network, connect your own OpenAI-compatible API endpoint and pay only your model provider, or run the AI entirely on your own computer — free of charge.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Guest mode works right in the browser and keeps your story on your device.
How is this different from a chatbot?
A dedicated AI dungeon master tracks plot, events, characters and your condition in a persistent world state, so your quest or adventure stays consistent over long play sessions.
Can I play with a model running on my own computer?
Yes — this is the most private option. If your computer is strong enough, you can run the AI yourself and connect it as your source. You don’t pay per message and you don’t send your story to an outside provider. Generation speed depends on your hardware, so this option suits more powerful machines.
Which AI source should I choose?
Three ways to play, three trade-offs:
- Free community network — no setup, start instantly; speed depends on the shared pool.
- Your own online model — connect any provider you like and pay only that provider; works on any device.
- Model on your computer — completely free and most private, generation runs locally; needs a decent PC and is as fast as your hardware allows.
Our plans
- Beta fixes. The site is in beta testing, so the first priority is fixing bugs and polishing how it works in daily use.
- Shared world library. The world state behind every story — its plot summary, recent events, characters, places, items and factions — will become a shareable world file. You will be able to publish your world to a public library and start your own adventures in worlds created by other players.
- Multiple stories per account. Instead of a single ongoing story, you will be able to keep several adventures side by side — each with its own chat history and world state — and switch between them whenever you like.
